Frequently Asked Questions

Every website is different both in its purpose and its complexity.  For this reason, a variety of options are available when implementing a new website:

  • Do I need a website? - Maybe not.  If you're business is primarily local and thriving (e.g. a pizza shop), you may not need a website at all.   If you sell a commodity that can easily be shipped, consider one.  If you want to differentiate your business from your competition, get one.
  • Can I create my own site? - If you have good PC skills and the ability to learn quickly, you might be able to createearth.jpg (5338 bytes) your own first site.  Give it a try first and then contact a professional if you run into problems.
  • Do I need my own web server for my site? - No.  If you have an Internet connection (e.g. AOL), probably are given free web space as part of your monthly fee.  You can use this space for your website and then include this web address in your other marketing.
  • How do I get a unique web address? - You need to register your desired name with a registration service (e.g. www.NetworkSolutions.com) and pay the cost of registration.  You then need webspace to connect this name to and your free web space probably won't work.  You'll need purchased web space to accomplish this.
  • Why the name Shark-Designs? - Aside from an avid interest in oceanology, there is a more logical reason to the company name. S.H.A.R.K. is actually an abbreviation of the names of the rest of my family - Sarah (3 yrs.), Hannah (4 yrs.), Abigail (1.5 yrs.), Rachel (6 yrs.) and Karen (wife - 31 years). My family rocks so the name is very appropriate.
